Why I Started Saddle to the Skillet

I never planned on starting a store. Honestly, it all began with something simple; I wrote a cookbook for my girls. When they left home, I wanted them to have all the recipes they grew up with, the little tricks I learned the hard way, and the meals that always brought us back to the table. I figured it would sit on their shelves and maybe a few friends’ shelves, and that would be that.

But more people connected with it than I ever expected. Folks started asking for copies, then asking what else I recommended for a first kitchen, or what I’d give as a wedding gift, or what tools I actually use in my own home. And I realized something: I didn’t want an online store that sold just one cookbook. That didn’t feel like me.

I wanted a place full of things that were useful, pretty, and made for real life, the kind of items I’d pick out for my girls, or for a new bride, or for someone starting fresh in their first home. So I started stocking the things I love: simple kitchen staples, cozy home pieces, and gifts that feel thoughtful without being fussy.

Saddle to the Skillet grew from that little cookbook into a place where you can build a whole gift in one stop, for newlyweds, graduates, housewarmings, or just because someone needs a little something. Everything here is chosen with intention and a whole lot of heart.

I’m glad you’re here. I hope you find something that feels like home.
